Walter was born about 1173 in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, England. Walter's father was Lord William de Beauchamp of Elmley and his mother was Joane de Walene. His paternal grandfather is William de Beauchamp and his paternal grandmother was Maud de Braose; his maternal grandfather was Sir Knight Thomas de Walene. He had three brothers named William, Andrew and William. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died in 1235.-
