Dobronega Mariya was born about 1011 in Kiev, Ukraine.  Dobronega Mariya's father was Prince Vladimir ("the Great") I of Kiev and her mother was Princess Anna Porphyrogenita of Kiev.  Her paternal grandfather was Svyatoslav Suitislaus I and her paternal grandmother is Malusha of Lubech; her maternal grandfather was Emperor Romanos II of Byzantium and her maternal grandmother is Theophano. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Iszyaslav, "the Wise" and Primislava.  She died in 1087.


Dobronega Mariya's family with Prince Casimir I ("the Restorer") of Poland

‌Dobronega Mariya and "the Restorer" were married in a religious ceremony about 1039.  They had a son and a daughter, named Wladyslaw and Swietoslawa.
