Anna was born on March 13th, 0963 in Constantinople, Constantinople, Turkey.  Anna's father was Emperor Romanos II of Byzantium and her mother is Theophano.  Her paternal grandparents were Emperor Konstantinos VII and Eleni Lekapene; her maternal grandparents are Krateros Anastaso of the Byzantine Empire and Maria of Constantinople. She had a brother and a sister, named Constantine and Rogneda.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 48 in 1011.

‌Anna and "the Great" were married in a religious ceremony in Kherson, Kherson, Ukraine.  They had a daughter named Dobronega Mariya.
