Olaf was born about 0898 in Oslo, Oslo, Norway.  Olaf's father was King Harald ("Fairhair", "Fine Hair", "Thick Hair") Halfdansson I of Norway and his mother is Suanhilde Eyesteinsdatter.  His paternal grandfather was King Halfdan ("the Black") Gudrodsson III of Norway and his paternal grandmother is Ragnhild Sigurdsdatter; his maternal grandfather was Jarl Eyestein ("the Viking", "the Noisy") Ivarsson of Upplanders and his maternal grandmother is Ascrida Rognvaldsson. He had a brother named Bjorn. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named "Bloodaxe", Sigurd, "Bloodaxe", "Aarbod", Ingeborge and Ingebiord.  He died in 0934 in Tonsberg, Vestfold, Norway.
