Alof, known as "Aarbod", was born about 0885 in Norway.  "Aarbod"'s father was King Harald ("Fairhair", "Fine Hair", "Thick Hair") Halfdansson I of Norway and her mother is Gyda Eiriksdatter.  Her paternal grandfather was King Halfdan ("the Black") Gudrodsson III of Norway and her paternal grandmother is Ragnhild Sigurdsdatter; her maternal grandfather is King Eirik of Jutland or Nordaland. She had a brother named "Bloodaxe". She had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Olaf, Bjorn, Sigurd, "Bloodaxe", Ingeborge and Ingebiord.


"Aarbod"'s family with Jarl Thorir ("the Silent") Rognvaldsson of Maer

‌"Aarbod" and "the Silent" were married in a religious ceremony about 0898.  They have a son and a daughter, named Thorbard and Bergljot.
