William de Roumare Earl of Lincoln 
William de was born before 1101 in Roumare,Seine-Inferieure,Normandy. William de's father was Roger Fitz Gerald de Roumare Lord of Spalding and his mother was Countess Lucia Taillebois Countess of Chester. His paternal grandfather is Gerold de Roumare; his maternal grandparents were Ives (Ivo) de Taillebois , 1st Baron of Kendal and Lucia of Mercia. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Ranulph de, William De, Adeliza de, Alice Of, Agnes Le and N.N.. He died in 1151 in of Lincoln,England.General Notes

In 1166 Robert de Cauceis was a tenant of the new feoffment of William de Roumare, his land being then in the king's hand. Henry II confirmed at Bur, 1166-73, an exchange made before him there bet. William de Roumare and Robert le Calceis, by which Robert gave to William all that he had of William's fee in England in Alkborough and Toynton St. Peter, co. Lincoln, and William gave to Robert all his demesne in Le Bourg-Dun, except the service of the knights holding of him there, and all he had in La Chapelle-sur-Dun, except the service of Walter de Cantelou and Richard de Dun, to hold by the service of one knight. In 1166 Godfrey de Dun held 4 knights' fees of the new feoffment of William de Roumare. In an exchange of lands bet. William de Roumare and Robert le Calceis of apparently the same period the former accepted a transfer of what he held in La Chapelle the service of Walter de Cantelou and Richard de Dun. The earls William de Roumare and his half-brother Ranulf of Chester were not to be bought by King Stephen's favours and Ordericus Vitalis describes their activities after Stephen left Lincoln: "Cautiously choosing a time when the garrison of the tower were dispersed abroad and engaged in sports, they sent their wives before them to the castle, under pretence of their taking some amusement. While, however, the two countesses stayed there talking and joking with the wife of the knight whose duty it was to defend the tower, the earl of Chester came in, without his armour or even his mantle, apparently to fetch back his wife, attended by three soldiers, no one suspecting any fraud. Having thus gained an entrance, they quickly laid hold of the bars and such weapons as were at hand, and forcibly ejected the king's guart. They then let in Earl William and hsi men-at-arms, as it had been planned before, and in this way the two brothers got possession of the tower and the whole city." [Lincoln Castle, p. 15-19]
