Weis' "Ancestral Roots. . ." (118:19), identifies Adelaide as dau. of
ROBERT, COUNT OF TROYES (RIN 1230) and ADELAIDE, wife of GEOFREY I,
COUNT OF ANJOU (RIN 1228), and mother of FULK III, COUNT OF ANJOU
(RIN 1258).

"In her discussion of the counts of Chalons CBB [Constance Brittain
Bouchard *Sword, Mitre and Cloister: Nobility and the Church in
Burgundy, 980-1198* (Ithica New York & London, Cornell University Press,
1987)] says:
"Lambert married a woman named Adelaide (*). While there is no
evidence of her origins in the sources, scholars have repeatedly tried to
tie her to the family of Giselbert, count of Burgundy, both because
Giselbert did have a daughter named Adelaide and because they feel a
need to explain how Lambert could have LEGITIMATELY** succeeded to
Chalon#. I prefer to leave Adelaide's origins unknown; since Lambert's
succession to Chalon was recognised by the king, he did not need a
hereditary claim by his wife to legitimize his rule(##).
Lambert died in 978, and his wife Adelaide quickly married Geoffrey
Greymantle, count of Anjou. Geoffrey acted as count of Chalon from 979
until his own death in 989 (*). ..." p.307f.

Note: Turton names her Adelaide de Chalons, daughter of Thebault de Chalons.  I believe this is a mistake based on the name given by her marriage to her first husband, Lambert d'Auton, Count of Chalons.

Actually it's even uglier than that.  ES indicates that Geoffrey married Adelaide de Vermandois & upon her death, married her widowed mother Adelaide de Burgundy, heiress of Chalons.  It also states the same mother & dau also married Lambert, Comte de Chalon-sur-Saone, Vicomte de Dijon.

Note: I have read some of the postings.  They seem to indicate that Geoffrey m. this Adelaide (although she is sometimes named "Adele de Donzy" and possibly another Adelaide as well, and that this Adelaide may not have married Lambert d'Autun, Count of Chalons?).  The part about the mother & daughter marrying the same people is (as it should be) discounted.  I am removing her marriage to Lambert d'Autun, making his wife Adelaide of Burgundy.
