'Grisegonnelle' Comte d' Anjou, known as Grisegonnelle (grey mantle), was born about 0950 in Anjou, France.1 Grisegonnelle (grey mantle)'s father was Ct. "the Good", Count of Anjou (Le Bon) Fulk II and his mother was Gerberga de Gatinais. His paternal grandfather was Ct. Foulques I "Le Roux" Comte d' (Le Roux) Anjou and his paternal grandmother is Rosalie (Roscille) de Loches; his maternal grandparents were Geoffrey Count of Gatinais and Ava of Arverne. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Bouchard I de, Foulques Seigneur de, Agnes of Anjou and Blanka. He was the youngest of the five children. He died due to Killed on July 21st, 0987 in (slain in battle).1 General Notes

Geoffrey I Grisegonelle (c. 960-987)..inaugurated a policy ofexpansion, aiming at the extension of the boundaries of the ancientcountship [of Anjou] and the reconquest of those parts of it which hadbeen annexed by the neighbouring states; for, though western Anjou hadbeen recovered from the dukes of Brittany since the beginning of the 10thcentury, in the east all of the district of Saumur had fallen into thehands of the counts of Blois and Tours. Geoffrey succeeded in making thecount of Nantes his vassal and in obtaining from the duke of Aquitaine agrant of the district of Loudun.
