His paternal grandparents were Ranulph III de Meschines 3rd Earl of Chester, Viscount Bayeux and Countess Lucia Taillebois Countess of Chester; his maternal grandparents were Robert De Caen Earl De Gloucester and Maud Fitz Hamon. He had a brother and four sisters, named Hugh Keveliok (3Rd Earl), Maud, Alice de, Johanna de and Beatrice De. He is the third oldest of the six children.General Notes
