Her paternal grandfather was Isaac Chritton and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Mann; her maternal grandparents were Enoch Blackwell Drake Sr. and Rachael Taylor. She had eight brothers and seven sisters, named Enoch Blackwell, Isaac Drake, Joseph Washburn, William Washburn, Johnnie Washburn, Robert B, Charles Santford Jr., James M., Cary Alexander, Azuba Lucinda, Catherine, Eura, Rachel Ann, Mary Minerva (Molly) and America Ellen.
