Charles Santford Jr. was born on July 13th, 1838 in Attica, Fountain Co., Indiana. Charles Santford Jr.'s father was Christopher Santford Chritton and his mother was Eura Eaton Drake. His paternal grandfather was Isaac Chritton and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Mann; his maternal grandparents were Enoch Blackwell Drake Sr. and Rachael Taylor. He had seven brothers and eight sisters, named Enoch Blackwell, Isaac Drake, Joseph Washburn, William Washburn, Johnnie Washburn, Robert B, James M., Cary Alexander, Azuba Lucinda, Catherine, Eura, Rachel Ann, Rebecca Jane, Mary Minerva (Molly) and America Ellen. He was the fourth youngest of the sixteen children. He died at the age of 75 on April 14th, 1914 in Pleasanton, , Kansas.-
