William Ritchie 
William was born on April 2nd, 1847 in Perry Co., Kentucky.1 William's father was Thomas Grigsby Ritchie and his mother was Kissiah Smith. His paternal grandparents were Alexander Crockett Ritchie and Elizabeth Susan Grigsby. He had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Benjamin, James Irvine, Samuel, Joshua, Thomas, Armelda, Elizabeth and Serena. He was the third youngest of the ten children.
