Thomas was born on May 19th, 1849 in Perry Co., Kentucky.1 Thomas' father was Thomas Grigsby Ritchie and his mother was Kissiah Smith. His paternal grandparents were Alexander Crockett Ritchie and Elizabeth Susan Grigsby.
