Julia A. Hughes

Julia A. was born about 1805 in Buckingham Co., Virginia.¹   Julia A.'s father was Leander, Sr. Hughes and her mother is Elizabeth Fretwell.  Her paternal grandfather was Powell Hughes and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Coleman. She had nine brothers and seven sisters, named Powell, Leonard F., John J., Sr., Leander, Little Berry, William, Farley B., Thomas Henry, Jesse Chesterfield, Gilley, Gideliah, Carolina, Philadelphia, Elizabeth 'Betsy', Susan L. and Nancy Ann.  She was the oldest of the seventeen children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ira B. and Sally Jane.  She died in Crittenden Co., Kentucky.¹ 

‌Julia A. and James Leonard were married in a religious ceremony about 1824 in Smith Co., Tennessee.¹   They had two sons and two daughters, named James Leonard, Jr., Archibald M., Sarah Ann and Martha L..
