Ira B. was born about 1825 in Smith Co., Tennessee.1 Ira B.'s father was Leander, Sr. Hughes and his mother is Martha N. Paris. His paternal grandfather was Powell Hughes and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Coleman; his maternal grandfather is James Paris and his maternal grandmother was Sally Pendleton. He has a sister named Sally Jane. He had nine half-brothers and eleven half-sisters, named Powell, Leonard F., John J., Sr., Leander, Little Berry, William, Farley B., Thomas Henry, Jesse Chesterfield, Julia A., Gilley, Gideliah, Carolina, Philadelphia, Elizabeth 'Betsy', Susan L., Nancy Ann, Hannah, Martha and Mary.General Notes

Leander was dead by Feb. 1839 as sons Seth W. and Ira B. Hughes are w
ar ds to James Gaulding Paris and James Leonard Paris. Little Berry Hugh
es w as acting as executor for the estate of Leander Hughes, Sr. both Hugh
es so ns went to Crittenden Co., Kentucy ca 1847.
His wife was a ward of James Leonard Paris at the time of their marr
ia ge in Dec 1847.
In February 1839, he named James Paris, Jr. his guardian. At the same t
im e, Farley B. Hughes named Little Berry Hughes as his guardian in Smi
th Co ., Tennessee County Court.
