William Durbin 
William was born on January 4th, 1726 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.1 William's father was Samuel Durbin and his mother was Ann Logsdon. His paternal grandparents were Thomas William Durbin and Mary Downs; his maternal grandparents were William Logsdon The Immigrant and Honora O'Flynn. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, John, Nicholas, Christopher, Edward, Benjamin, Sarah, Ann, Margaret, Mary C and Honor. He was the second oldest of the thirteen children. He died about 1773 in Frederick County, Maryland.1 General Notes

Born in a log cabin (the old log building thought to be the original ho
me standing near the homestead). In 1752, William purchased land from Edw
ard Lamb, called "Resurvey on Good Fellowship", and in
1761 he purchased 50 acres more in the same tract. William married Ma

After the Revolutionary War several of Samuel's children migrated throu
gh western Maryland, West Virginia, southern Pennsylvania and into Ohio. O
thers remained in the Baltimore/Westminster area.
Among them were William, Thomas and Benjamin. The latter two are buri
ed in the Westminster Catholic Cemetery, together with their families a
nd a Logsdon or two, directly behind the Public Library. I
have pictures of their grave sites. William's family became solid citize
ns of Westminster, his children and grandchildren making their marks in t
he Methodist Church, in the city government, and in
the raising of civic and private buildings. More about William's family b
