Thomas Durbin was brought to Maryland from England with Lord Baltimo
re in 1638. The Durbin family is found named in Baltimore County land gran
ts and descendants resided in what was once Baltimore
County, now Harford County, and migrated to Western Md., Washington Count
y, Pa., Ohio and points west.
Thomas bought a 200 acre tract, for 2500 pounds of tobacco, located on t
he north side of the Patapsco River, near Welshmans Creek, in 1676.
Thomas owned a property known as "Hab-Nab-at-a-Venture", surveyed as 350 a
cres on June 30, 1688. The tract lying on the north side of the Patapsco R
iver, belonged to his heirs 1700-1720, and is the
