Charles "I" was born in Vincennes, Val-de-Marne, France.1 Charles "I"'s father was Philip Augustus "III" de France and his mother was Isabel de Aragon. His paternal grandparents were Louis Augustus "IX" de France and Margaret de Provence; his maternal grandparents were James Pedrez "I" de Aragon and Yolande de Hungary. He had three brothers and a sister, named Louis, Philip "IV", Robert and Blanche. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Louis and Marguerite.
