Brightwell Garfield was born on March 27th, 1830 in Giles Co., Virginia.1 Brightwell Garfield's father was Adam H. Meadows and his mother was Sarah Dick. His paternal grandparents are Jacob Meadows and MARY ARRINGTON. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Josephus, Henry C., John William Wilson, Jacob R. A., Elizabeth, Sarah A., Nancy Jane, Mary Ann Catherine, Christiana and Susan G.. He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 55 on November 22nd, 1885 in Middle Creek, Tazewell Co., Virginia. He was buried in Jones Chapel in Cedars Bluff, Virginia.1 1 General Notes
