Cecil Donald was born on August 12th, 1914 in California.1 Cecil Donald's father was WILLIAM H. Giertz and his mother was MARY Ellen Vinson. His paternal grandparents were JOSEPH Giertz and Emma Studiman; his maternal grandparents were GILBERT H. Vinson and ELLA A. Bassett. He had two brothers and a sister, named IVAN Raymond, Robert Vincent and Helen Marie. He was the second oldest of the four children.
