Mary was born about 1767 in Culpeper Co, Virginia.1 Mary's father was MATTHEW H. French and her mother was SARAH Payne. Her paternal grandfather was JOHN C. FRENCH and her paternal grandmother is MARTHA FLINT; her maternal grandparents are JOHN PAYNE and SALLIE. She had four brothers and two sisters, named John S., James Wilburn, Isaac M., DAVID Edwin, Martha M. and Annie. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She died in 1858 in Cabell Co., WV.2 -
