From The History of the Cresaps, Published by The Cresap Society, 1987: Daniel Cresap, b. 29 Feb 1728 near Havre de Grace, MD - m 1st c. 1749, wife unknown (see note below); m 2nd 1750, Ruth S 1796, Eliza Dawson (sp); m 4th 1797, Hannah Longshore (sp) - d Jul 1798, near Rawlings, MD. His home at Rawlings was near Dan's Mountain which was named for h im. He was a member of the Ohio Co a member of the Committee of Safety during the American Revolution.
(Note: Daniel's first wife may have been Martha Flint French, dau. of Joseph Flint and widow of John French. The will of Joseph Flint, proved in 1784, named Michael Cresap as an heir. The Virg French who held land on the south branch of the Potomac left a widow, Martha, who is said to have married a Captain Cresap.
