John Day was born about 1850 in Giles Co, Virginia. John Day's father was Isaac French and his mother is Rhoda Day. His paternal grandparents were Isaac M. French and Elizabeth Stowers. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William Henderson, Joshua Green, Giles Preston, Andrew Jackson, Rufus, Isaac E., Eliza, Martha and Mary Octavia. He is the youngest of the ten children.-
