Edgard was born on December 19th, 1843 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.1 Edgard's father was Sosthene Alexander Couvillon and his mother was Emelia Mayeaux. His paternal grandparents were PIERRE Couvillon and *BRIGETTE Mayeux; his maternal grandparents were ANTOINE Mayeux and ROSALIE Broyard Barre. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Severe, Sosthene Alexandre, Ovide Omer, Clementine, Evelina, Luce and Celinie. He is the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
