Notes for MONROE SCOTT THAXTON: Monroe married Sarah Jane Thomas. They had eight children. Sarah Jane died shortly after the birth of George R. Thaxton, who lived only 12 days. He then married Mary Jane Legg a little less than 5 months after his first wife died. Monroe and Mary Jane Legg had 12 children.
HE WAS A FARMER. THE THAXTON CEMETARY IS ON THE ORIGINAL HOMESTEAD. ALL HIS SONS WERE BRICKLAYERS.
