Mary Elizabeth was born on June 16th, 1868 in POCA TOWNSHIP, Kanawha, WV. Mary Elizabeth's father was Monroe Scott Thaxton and her mother was Sarah Jane Thomas. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Clarkson Thaxton and Sarah Fore; her maternal grandfather is Peter P. Thomas and her maternal grandmother was Melinda Carney. She had five brothers and two sisters, named General George Washington, James Monroe, Peter CAIN, William Henry Grant, George R., Malissa Jane and Louisa Ann. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She had eight half-brothers and four half-sisters, named William Riley, Albert Henry, Edward Scott, Lawrence, LaFayette Franklin, Braden Allen, Samuel, Lovely, Martha Almeda, Rosa Ellen, Emzy R and Clyda Clara. She died at the age of 93 on February 23rd, 1962 in , Kanawha, WV.-
