Martha Almeda was born on May 19th, 1877 in , Kanawha, West Virginia, USA. Martha Almeda's father was Monroe Scott Thaxton and her mother was Mary Jane Legg. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Clarkson Thaxton and Sarah Fore; her maternal grandparents were Achilles Anderson Legg and Mary Aurilla Monday. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named William Riley, Albert Henry, Edward Scott, Lawrence, LaFayette Franklin, Braden Allen, Samuel, Lovely, Rosa Ellen, Emzy R and Clyda Clara. She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named General George Washington, James Monroe, Peter CAIN, William Henry Grant, George R., Malissa Jane, Louisa Ann and Mary Elizabeth. She died at the age of 78 on January 7th, 1956.-
