Bethania was born on May 10th, 1777 in Henry Co., Va. Bethania's father was Joseph F. SCALES and her mother was Ann Hardin PERKINS. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph SCALES and Mary (UNKNOWN); her maternal grandfather was Nicholas III PERKINS and her maternal grandmother is Bethenia HARDING. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Nicholas Perkins, Joseph Henry, Robert, Constantine Perkins, Peter Perkins, Mary ("Polly"), Susannah, Anne Hardin and Elizabeth Letcher. She was the third oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 34 on January 3rd, 1812 in Stokes Co., Nc.General Notes
