J. R. Graves was born on December 1st, 1858. J. R. Graves' father was John PHILLIPS and his mother was Rebecca Jane WILLIAMS. His paternal grandparents were David PHILLIPS and Mary (Polly) WATERS. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William Anderson, Julius, John Huston, Mary Ann Frances, Margaret America, Martha Jane Howard and Sarah Rosetta. He is the second youngest of the eight children.-
