Rufus Newton was born on June 3rd, 1874 in , Dickson, Tennessee. Rufus Newton's father was Benjamin Tidwell MCCASLIN and his mother was Martha E. NICKS. His paternal grandparents were John A. MCCASLIN and Elizabeth TIDWELL; his maternal grandparents are Barton Warren Stone NICKS and America Agnes MCGRAW. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Lilburn Franklin, William Henry, Enoch Absalom, Barton Warren Stone, John Thomas, Benjamin Lafayette, Mary Elizabeth, Florence Eudora, Mattie and Ethel. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 78 on March 11th, 1953. He was buried in March 1953 in , Dickson, Tennessee.General Notes
