Mattie was born on March 3rd, 1889 in , Dickson, Tennessee. Mattie's father was Benjamin Tidwell MCCASLIN and her mother was Martha E. NICKS. Her paternal grandparents were John A. MCCASLIN and Elizabeth TIDWELL; her maternal grandparents are Barton Warren Stone NICKS and America Agnes MCGRAW. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Lilburn Franklin, William Henry, Rufus Newton, Enoch Absalom, Barton Warren Stone, John Thomas, Benjamin Lafayette, Mary Elizabeth, Florence Eudora and Ethel. She was the second youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 2 on September 29th, 1891.General Notes
