Dirk Gerdes Lübberts 
Dirk Gerdes was born on February 16th, 1831 in Ihrhove, Ostfriesland, Germany and his baptism took place on February 20th, 1831.1 Dirk Gerdes' father was Geerd Hinderks Lübberts and his mother was Geeske Harms (Sinnen) Sinning. His paternal grandparents were Hinderk Geerds Lübbers and Swaantje Geerds; his maternal grandparents were Harm Edden Sinning and Meye Geerts. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Harm Edden, Hinderk Geerds "Henry", Dirk Geerds, Lübbertus Geerds, Swaantje Geerds and Maÿe Gerdes. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 66 on November 4th, 1897 in Emery, McCook County, South Dakota, USA. He was buried in Emery Community Cemetery - Emery, Hanson County, South Dakota.1 1 General Notes

OBITUARY - THE MESSENGER - 24th November 1897
Dirk Lubbers, our brother, born Feb. 16, 1831 in Ihrhowe, East Friesland (Frisia) died November 4, 1897, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 19 days. After many years of suffering from asthma and kidney trouble his life expired. He believed in the Lord and met his end in peace and found forgiveness in the blood of the lamb. He reaffirmed his faith in the baptism performed by Brother P. deNeui in Ihrhowe. On may 7, 1862, he entered the holy sacrament of matrimony with his bereaved widow Hanna Lubbers, nee Henning. The marriage was blessed with 9 children. He is survived by his faithful wife and 7 children, 3 sons-in-law, 3 daughters-in-law and grandchildren. The Lord comfort those mourning for him. Two sons preceded their father to eternity, one small and young and the other in the prime of his life. The undersigned spoke about 'revelation' 12, 11, to a large congregation in church.
