Geerd Dirks (George) was born on February 1st, 1863 in Ihrhove, Ostfriesland, Germany.1 Geerd Dirks (George)'s father was Dirk Gerdes Lübberts and his mother was Janna Christina Evert Hennings. His paternal grandparents were Geerd Hinderks Lübberts and Geeske Harms (Sinnen) Sinning; his maternal grandparents were Evert Berends Hennings and Hilke Ontjes Van Mark. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Evert, Abbe, Dirk, Dick, Harm, Hilka, Gesi "Mary" and Jannetta "Nettie". He was the oldest of the nine children.
