Robert De Scales 
Robert was born about 1313.1 Robert's father was Robert De Scales and his mother was Egeline De Courtenay. His paternal grandparents were Robert De Scales and Isabel De Burnell; his maternal grandparents were Hugh De Courtenay and Eleanor Despencer. He had a sister named Eleanor. He was the younger of the two children. He died in 1369.1 General Notes

His father dying in 1322, Robert de Scales, 3rd baron, then in minority, for whose guardianship his mother paid a fine of 200 marks to the king. His lordship attained his majority in the 7th Edward III [1334], and in two years afterwards, we find him in the expedition made into Scotland, in the retinue of William de Ufford. He was again in Scotland the ensuing year, and in the 12th of the same reign [1339] he attended the king into Flanders. From this period until the 30th Edward [1357], he was almost unremittingly engaged in France. His lordship m. Katherine, dau. of Robert de Ufford, sister and co-heir of William de Ufford, Earl of Suffolk, and had issue, Roger, his successor; Margaret, m. Sir Robert Howard; Elizabeth, m. to Sir Roger de Felbrigg. Lord Scales, who had summons to parliament from 25 February, 1342, to 6 April, 1369, d. in the latter year, and was s. by his son Roger, 4th baron.
