Sayer was born in 1155 in Buckley, England.1   Sayer's father was Saier De Quincy and his mother was Maud De Saint Liz.  His paternal grandfather was Robert De Quincy; his maternal grandparents were Simon De Saint Liz and Matilda Margaret De Huntingdon. He had a brother and a sister, named Robert and Loretta.  He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Walter Lord of Dunmow Castle, Maud and Matilda.  He died at the age of 64 in 1219 in The Holy Land.  He was buried in ,Acre, Palestine.1 1

‌Sayer and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony before 1172 in ,,,England.1   They had two sons and a daughter, named Roger, Robert and Hawise.
