Matilda was born about 1041 in Montaigne, France.1   Matilda's father was Roger De Montgomery and her mother was Mabel De Belleme Talvas.  Her paternal grandparents were I Roger and Josseline de Pontaudemer; her maternal grandparents were William II Talvas De Belleme and Hildeburge De Beaumont. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert II, Roger The Poitevin, Arnulph De, Robert de, Sibyl and Marguerite de.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.  She died in 1107 in Cornwall? - wife of Robert de Caen.  She was buried in Abbey of Grestain.1 1

‌Matilda and Robert Count De were married in a religious ceremony before 1058.1   They had a son and two daughters, named William De Mortainge Earl Of, Agnes and Emma.
