William Oscar Manning 
William Oscar was born on July 26th, 1890 in Pitt County, N. C. William Oscar's father was Talbert M. Manning and his mother was Maniza Ellen James. His paternal grandparents were William "Billy" Manning and Elizabeth "Betsy" Matthews; his maternal grandparents were William Alfred "W. A" James and Elisabeth "Betsy" Ann Highsmith. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Louis Henry, Benjamin Franklin, Lessie, Lucy Elizabeth and Carrie Elizabeth. He was the third youngest of the six children.-
