Benjamin Franklin was born on July 2nd, 1892 in Bethel Township, Pitt County, NC. Benjamin Franklin's father was Talbert M. Manning and his mother was Maniza Ellen James. His paternal grandparents were William "Billy" Manning and Elizabeth "Betsy" Matthews; his maternal grandparents were William Alfred "W. A" James and Elisabeth "Betsy" Ann Highsmith. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Louis Henry, William Oscar, Lessie, Lucy Elizabeth and Carrie Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 57 on March 29th, 1950 in Pitt County, NC. He was buried in Manning Cemetery, Pitt County, NC.General Notes
