Nancy Anne Elizabeth was born in 1853 in Pitt County, North Carolina. Nancy Anne Elizabeth's father was William "Billy" Manning and her mother was Elizabeth "Betsy" Matthews. Her paternal grandparents were Micajah "Michael" Manning and Margaret "Peggy" Whitehurst; her maternal grandparents were William Matthews and Mary Taylor. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William M, John Lawrence Graham, Talbert M., Mary Ann, Magzilla "Ziley" and Caroline. She was the second youngest of the seven children.General Notes
