James Burrel (Burwell) was born in 1834 in Edgecombe Co. NC. James Burrel (Burwell)'s father was Duncan Hargrove and his mother was Sally Land. His paternal grandmother was Charity Hargrove; his maternal grandparents were Littleberry Land and Mary "Molly" McLemore. He had four brothers and eight sisters, named Samuel Henry, Gray Lemon, Thomas Daniel, Edward L, Mary Elizabeth, Frances Deller "Della", Martha Ann Charity, Sara Nina, Florence Anna, Malvina Catherine, Ina Elizabeth and Louisana Jane. He died at the age of 30 on October 27th, 1864 in Burgess' Mill, VA.General Notes
