John Gray was born in 1708 in Surrry Co. Va. John Gray's father was Grey Thomas Proctor and his mother was Anne Stuart. His paternal grandfather was Grey Proctor. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Richard, William, Mary and Sarah. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 63 in 1771 in Edgecombe Co. NC.General Notes
