William Ann Gardner 
William Ann was born about 1850 in Edgecombe Co. NC. William Ann's father was Gray Lemon Hargrove and her mother was Martha Ann Foxhall. Her paternal grandparents were Duncan Hargrove and Sally Land; her maternal grandparents were Robert Foxhall and Martha Ann (Patsy) Unknown. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert Henry, John David and Martha Gray. She was the oldest of the four children. She had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Alphons "Alva" Gray, Edwin Thomas, Willie Franklin, Charles Bardwood, Peyton Clifford, Joseph Marion, Lucy Ella, Sallie Capitola, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Geraldine and Hattie Idora.-
