Margaret was born about 1252 in of Carrick,Galloway,Scotland.  Margaret's father was Neil of Carrick Earl of Carrick and her mother was Margaret Stewart.  Her paternal grandparents were Duncan of Carrick Earl of Carrick and Avelina FitzWalter; her maternal grandparents were Walter Stewart High Steward and Beatrix Gilchrist De Angus. She had a sister named Miss.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died before 1292.

‌Margaret and Robert were married in a religious ceremony in 1271 in Turnberry Castle,Ayrshire,Scotland.  They had five sons and six daughters, named Robert I "The Bruce" King Of, Edward Earl, Nigel (Neil), Thomas, Alexander, Isabel, Christina, Mary, Maud (Matilda) (Mary), Elizabeth and Margery.
