Mahaut was born in 1218.  Mahaut's father was Pierre II De Courtenay and her mother was Agnes D' Auxerre Countess Of Nevers.  Her paternal grandparents were Pierre I Capet de France and Elizabeth De Courtenay; her maternal grandparents were Guy I Nevers and Mathilde Mahaud De Bourgogne. She had five half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Philippe De, Pierre De, Robert De, Henri De, Baudoin De, Marguerite De, Sibylle De, Yolande De, Agnes De, Elizabeth De, Marie De, Eleanor De and Constance De.  She died at the age of 38 in 1256.


Mahaut's family with Guigues IV de Forez

‌Mahaut and Guigues IV were married in a religious ceremony in 1225.  They had a son named Renaud I.
