William de was born about 1200 in Of,,Derbyshire,England.  William de's father was William de Ferrers [EARL OF DERBY] and his mother was Agnes de Meschines Lady of Chartley.  His paternal grandparents were Walkelin (William) de Ferrers [Seigneur of Fer and Sybil de Braiose; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Keveliock 3rd Earl of Chester and Bertrade (Beatrix) Evreux de Montfort. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Hugh, Robert, Hugh, Ivette, Sybil and Berta.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died on March 24th, 1254 in At Evington.  He was buried on March 31st, 1254 in Merevale Abbey,Merevale,Warwickshire,England.
