John Burrell was born on December 11th, 1865 in Coffee Co., AL.1 John Burrell's father was Francis Marion Rushing and his mother was Frances Virginia Yelverton. His paternal grandparents were Malachi Rushing and Telitha Dykes; his maternal grandparents were Gappa Talmadge Yelverton and Martha Brown Simmons. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William F. McDonald, Gappa Malachi, Francis Marion, Jr., Martha Alabama, Frances Miriam, Delia and Minneola.
