William P. Evans and Elizabeth McEwen probably courted at or near Stone
Moutain, GA. Afterwards, Elizabeth Ann McEwen married William P. Evans
they moved to Gwinnett Co., GA to AL. Their descendants live all around
Heflin, AL. William P. Evans supposedly gave the land for the town site
and has been called the father of Heflin, AL. Elizabeth Ann was said to
have been trained for medical doctor and practiced for a number of years
in their home area. William P. Evans family was composed of 15 children,
12 sons and 3 daughters. There were two sets of twins. William P. Evans
and Elizabeth are both buried in the family cemetery, that is close to
the Tallapoosa River. Edwardsville, AL is where this family lived for
approximately for 40 years.
