Samuel Thomas Jenerette, Elias and Margaret's youngest son, served in the
Confederate Army during the War of Southern Independence in Company "B"
Manigault's Battalion of South Carolina Artillery.
Samuel was raised by his brother James and he moved with him to their
father's land in Horry Co., SC. He was a man of many virtues and beloved
by all who knew him. He is the patriarch of many Jenrettes in Horry Co,
SC. In 1857, Samuel hauled mill rocks from Conway, SC by oxcart. He
builta water mill on Prince Mill Swamp to grind corn and wheat. Like
hisfather, he took on a considerable project for those days. The
millbecame a public meeting place.
His sworn statement was typed in Marion Co., SC, but he was actually
living in Horry Co., SC.
