Happy Jane was born on October 1st, 1828 in Bertie Co., NC.1 Happy Jane's father was Starkey Castellaw and her mother was Dicey Hoggard. Her paternal grandparents were James C. Castellaw and Elizabeth Cobb; her maternal grandparents were Elisha Hoggard and Amelia White. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Larry, Redden Haywood, Mary, Marthena Jane, Christian, Harriet, Barbry E., Caroline and Amelia Elizabeth. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 69 on May 5th, 1898 in ?.1 -
