John was born on June 2nd, 1770 in Sampson Co., NC.1 John's father was Jesse Francis Barfield and his mother was Sarah Castellaw. His paternal grandfather was Richard Barfield; his maternal grandparents were James, Sr. Castellaw and Sarah Williams. He had five brothers and a sister, named Frederick, Stephen, Solomon, Lewis, Thomas and Carity. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He died in ?.1 -
